Hello, Friends. Last week, we shared a big announcement about our publications. In case you missed it, Jen Kane Paterson and John Paterson of Green Mountain Media Group are now the proud owners and stewards of VERMONT Magazine, Stratton Magazine, Manchester Life Magazine, and The Guide

Happily, I am now also a part of Green Mountain Media Group and ready to continue the good work I’ve been doing these past few years, right alongside the trusted colleagues who have been here even longer than I have. I’m psyched to continue working with John and to dig in anew with Jen, too! Look for more on this dynamic couple in the coming weeks…

Change is something I think about a lot, in general, but especially at the end of the calendar year. It’s New Year’s Eve 2025- I just turned 50, my son just turned 13 (!!!), we adopted a new kitten from Second Chance Animal Center in Arlington on December 28, and I am now the Editor-in-Chief of our beloved, Vermont-based publications. All of this is good and all of this involves change. Honestly, the only down side is that I will miss seeing my Old Mill Road Media colleagues regularly, who are still publishing Berkshire Magazine, still operating Old Mill Road Recording (the beautiful, state of the art recording studio in East Arlington), and ready to start new chapters of their own.

Meeting Old Mill Road Media owner and CEO, Joshua Sherman, changed my life. For the better.

“Auld Lang Syne,” the quintessential New Year’s Eve song, literally translates from Old English to “Days Long Ago” in Modern English. The song is a remembrance between old friends of days past. How fitting it is for me to sing now, as I remember the beginning of my wonderful journey with Old Mill Road Media. But, like the hope that springs anew at the start of a new year, this lovely end is just the beginning of a new chapter. The “cup o’ kindness” we sing about every December 31st has runneth over and I am grateful for every drop we shared!

In January 2022, I recorded a couple of tunes at Old Mill Road Recording for an album they were producing. Joshua and the rest of his team were so welcoming, so wonderful to work with, that I found myself inquiring about other job opportunities with the company. The last 4 years have been incredible. I cannot say “thank you” enough to Joshua for giving me this incredible opportunity. I wouldn’t be here without him and the partnership we’ve created.

Thank you also to the rest of the Old Mill Road Media and Old Mill Road Recording team who are still working hard on their projects in East Arlington and in the Berkshires, as we at Green Mountain Media Group carry the torch onward for our Vermont publications.

I’ll be thinking of you all as I sing tonight.

Auld Lang Syne

Lyrics by Robert Burns, 1788

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind

Should old acquaintance be forgot and the days of auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dear

For auld lang syne

We’ll drink a cup o’ kindness yet

For auld lang syne

And here's my hand, my trusty friend,

And give me your hand thine,

We’ll take an excellent good-will drink

For the days of auld lang syne

With gratitude, with inspiration, and with love: THANK YOU & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I leave you with our New Year’s Kitty, Dexter.
